West Georgia Technical College opened a Carroll County campus in Buffalo Creek Technology Park in 2022. A $58 million mixed-use development broke ground downtown in 2025, with a parking deck, a city-funded conference center, a 99-room hotel and 80 apartments. The construction here is institutional and commercial.
Southwire started in Carrollton on 23 March 1950 with three used machines and twelve employees, and the New Georgia Encyclopedia now describes it as the world’s largest privately owned wire company.
