The design should existbefore the drywall does.
On a new build or a gut renovation, the network design is the cheapest line on the job and usually the first one skipped. Rack location, drop counts and access point positions get settled while changing them still costs an eraser.
- Plan walked with the builder, the owner and whoever pulls the cable
- Rack location chosen for power, airflow and where the ISP actually lands
- Access point and camera positions fixed before the ceilings close
- Spare capacity left for the thing nobody has thought of yet
